Because there are several types of digital pen. which has a different functions with and different price. There are a lot of people who buy a very expensive digital pen but use a few of its functions. So If you have some questions or comments do not hesitate to do so.
I believe there are 3 types of digital pen nowadays which is Smartpen, Mobile Digital scribe and Memo pad. And of course, the main purpose of this 3 types of digital pen is to transfer your note into a computer but there is a hugh difference between this 3 types.
Mobile digital scribe : This is type of a digital pen that you use it as a normal pen. Just write your notes or draw some pictures then transfer your note into your computer by using usb. and then it will convert your note into typing document if you like. Pretty easy, all you need to do while you writing is clip your pen’s wireless data transfer clip with your normal notebook. So to use this Mobile digital scribe It means you have to carry your digital pen + pen’s wireless data transfer clip with you all the time. I think this Mobile digital scribe is perfect for someone who intend to use their digital pen for drawing purpose like artist or designer who like to do a quick sketch. Because you can write it on every surface and no limit of paper to use. Memo pad: Actually Most of functions of Memo pad is similar to Mobile digital scribe But instead of using clip. They are using pad. With a pad you can not carry it around like Mobile digital scribe or Smartpen But you will have a hardboard for writing. So, I think people who might use this Memo is someone who works in the office. walking around write something all the time. Maybe doctor, site inspector, secretary will love this. I would like to hear from people who used any of these devices at least one month.
I used Livescribe for 2 or 3 months and it works as advertise. But I didn’t use it anymore because of 2 things 1. I can’t find the Livescribe reseller for my cartridge and my notebook. I have to order it over Amazon but since i am not living in the states, the delivery price is too high ! 2. It’s not so convenience that I have to since Livescribe with its cradle to transfer data. There are several times that I want to send my written data right away but I have not bring my notebook with me. So I have to come back home to sync it. I found the more convenient way is use Macbook, IPod touch and IPad.
I use AceCad Digi Memo A5 for several months. Well, I like it. I use to when I have to use schematical graph for my thoughts. I don’t use it to make notes really. Instead, I use normal paper and then transfer them to OneNote, or simply use laptop whenever it’s possible. But, drawing schemes is easier to do with Digi Memo, as it’s not always fast to transfer them into soft-version like with normal notes.
