Nook Simple Touch with Glowlight vs Kindle Touch comparison

Should you buy the latest technology Nook touch with built-in reading light or should you buy Kindle Touch ? In my opinion, there are two factors to define :

The first one is the price, Nook Touch with Glowlight comes with the same price of Kindle Touch wifi, but Kindle Touch has a sponsored screen saver and home screen version that is only 99 USD, but you have to trade for ads that may not so pleasant.

The second one is weight, new Nook Touch is only 6.95 ounces while Kindle Touch is 7.5 ounces and don’t forget that Nook comes with a built-in reading light ! What make Kindle Touch so heavy ?  Additional features like Read-to-Me, MP3 player with stereo speakers, and web browser ! While the lightest Kindle is Kindle 4 and it is only 5.98 ounces, lighter than Nook Simple Touch with Glowlight but it has no touchscreen.

So, these are what you will miss if you pick Nook Touch with reading light over Kindle Touch :

- Text to Speech feature.

- “Silk” the best Kindle’s web browser, you can use Kindle Touch as your e-ink screen tablet for web surfing.

- MP3 player, I know that you may think it is not so useful, but with the “pack light” concept for an easy day, the idea of just you, Kindle, in-ear earphones, keys and wallet hit the road is very casual.

And for reading light, in my opinion, why bother carrying it around if you don’t use it all the time, with lighted cover, Kindle lets you have a choice to decide wether to bring reading light with you or not (but I have to accepted that Nook’s built-in reading light is so gorgeous). So think carefully which one is the best choice for you, if you are looking for an touchscreen e-ink ebook reader with no need of internet connection, Nook is the best choice, but if you are looking for something multi-touch, with web browser and addition features, Kindle Touch is not a bad idea at all.
