New eReader in color from Nook just released a few week ago. Although it seems very exciting with new features of color touchable screen and “Kid Books Come Alive” (opening and expanding new family target), I worry about how long the batter will last.

With the technology LCD display and all interactive features from kids’ books including touchscreen feature, Nook power battery  has become a downside. With wireless off, it can be read for up to 8 hours. This is not a good sign for reading lovers. We have to rethink that what is the main purpose of eReader? Isn’t that for reading? If we could not reader it as long enough as we want, then Nook color is only a capable reader but is not a reader. This is not including a glare from LCD display which I believe you cannot read it for so long.

Nook color is actually like iPad. If the purpose of eReader is to have a feeling like reader hardcopy books, I think E-Ink is the winner. Particularly, Amazon’s Kindle, at least it tries to mimic a feeling of reader a paper book which is much nicer and comfortable than Nook.
