PocketBook Pro 902 ereader vs Kindle DX Graphite, which one to buy ?

Based on its hardware specification, I have to admitted that PocketBook Pro 902 ereader is a very good choice for 9.7 inch e-ink screen ebook reader under 300 USD, the only flaw of this ebook reader is it lacks of online ebook store support, I mean BookLand.net is acceptable choice, but compared to Amazon Kindle store, BookLand.net is too limited, but on the other hand, if you are looking for other languages, I think BookLand.net offers a lot and also I believe international ebook lovers are what PocketBook Pro 902 ereader  is aiming for, because it comes with many Text-to-Speech languages support and also a multi-languages dictionary.

So, my recommendation about PocketBook Pro 902 ereader buying, compared to Kindle DX Graphite is if you are not an native english speaker like me and PocketBook Pro 902 ereader is available in your language, buying this ereader is not a bad idea. But if what you are looking for is an ebook reader to read english language, I still believe Kindle DX Graphite is your best option for a 9.7 inch ebook reader, I think it is almost a time that this ebook reader will be price cut since it has been cut once on Cyber Monday 2011. If you can wait you should wait for Kindle DX Graphite with 279 USD.

No Kindle Touch and Kindle Fire for international Kindle buyers during this Christmas & New Year

If you are looking for a Christmas gift and has been aiming for Kindle Touch or Kindle Fire for a while, I have to say the only new model of Kindle you can get internationally is Kindle 4 (actually I have been using it for a while and I love it so much, it gives me a chance to read more), or you can buy Kindle Touch at EBAY, which in my opinion, you should not do that, because I don’t know how Kindle Touch and Fire works outside U.S., I am pretty sure that you cannot use Silk out side the U.S. territory since  it comes with Cloud computing technology that needs to rely on U.S. server calculation, and I don’t know if you can use 3G sync with your Kindle Touch 3G as well, so if you are looking for a Christmas ebook reader gift, I think Kindle 4 is one the best ebook reader that I ever tried, or you can wait patiently for Kindle DX Graphite price cut that may come again before Christmas.

Skinny on series the best ebook for Kindle DX Graphite for this end of year holiday season

If you want to spend your holiday season with a energy charger ebook to encourage yourself to be in a better place or live your life the way you want it, I’d like to recommend the Skinny on series, it is a cute series in an easy-to-read-cartoon-style, for the content, it is a “how to” series on a self improvement, my favorite is The Skinny on Willpower: How to Develop Self Discipline, and now I am reading the  The Skinny on Success: Why Not You?, (but I bought almost every books in this series including The Skinny on Time Management: How to Maximize Your 24-Hour Gift, The Skinny on The Art of Persuasion: How to Move Mind, all of them for this long Christmas – new year holiday), one thing about this ebook is, if you want to read it comfortably, Kindle DX Graphite is a best choice, Kindle Keyboard, and Kindle 4 and Touch maybe too small, and reading on IPad is not good, I think there is a problem with formatting on IPad, I finished my first Skinny on series : Willpower on my Kindle 4, but I think if you have Kindle DX Graphite, you’ll be read faster and easier, if you are looking for a book to encourage yourself for success, go with Skinny on series !

Will this Kindle DX Black Friday sales be long ?

Kindle DX is on the 32% sale price, the question is will it be long or it will be canceled after Black Friday or after Cyber Monday ? Perhaps this discount price on Kindle DX could becomes its regular price ?, there are a few hours left for Black Friday and 3 days until Black Friday week and Cyber Monday ends, so if the Kindle DX price discount is only for Black Friday, we will know a few hours, but if it has been extended until Cyber Monday, it is a great deal too, so you have sometime to think about thoroughly, but if this price becomes regular, it means that, Amazon has a big plan of Kindle DX new release ! if that happened, will you be regret with your Kindle DX Black Friday or Cyber Monday shopping ?, actually Amazon has a return policy, at least in a month (if I remember correctly), so if you think the Kindle DX Black Friday sales is a good deal, why don’t get one, and see if Amazon launch their new ebook in 1 month time, you still have a chance to get a new one (please check the return policy carefully, I am pretty sure that they have one, but I don’t quite sure on a time period).

Kindle DX Graphite vs Kindle 4 e-ink screen, the quality vs the mobility ?

I received my Kindle 4 international shipping yesterday and I am very happy about it, here is my though about this latest generation of Kindle ebook reader, Kindle 4 is the lightest, and slimmest ebook reader in Amazon’s line of ebook production line, but to archived that, here is what you have to sacrifice for the mobility, cheap price and the lighter weight :

Click here for the official Kindle 4 page @Amazon, starts from 79 USD

Compared to my Kindle DX Graphite, Kindle 4 reading screen is not as good as its predecessor, I don’t have a Kindle 3, so I can’t tell if the Kindle 3′s screen is better or worst than Kindle DX Graphite, but with the Kindle 4, I think its screen is not as crisp as Kindle DX Graphite and also comes with a lower contrast, as the results of this, there are many times that I’ve realized that I did not read on a real paper but from the reading device, which never occurs with Kindle DX Graphite, but is the Kindle 4 reading screen bad and unreadable ? Not at all !, traded for mobility, I’ve found myself very happy to use Kindle 4, I can bring it with me any where without concern about weight and size.

Does the 6 inch reading screen size destroy my reading experience ? Not at all ! At first when I received it, I had this concern as well but after learning to read from font size 4, I am happy and I don’t know if this for real or just my mind, but I think I can read faster on Kindle 4 than Kindle DX Graphite, maybe because of the very swiftly page turning of Kindle 4.

There is one thing that I don’t like about Kindle 4, the highlight feature, I use it a lot on Kindle DXG and it is very easy to use, but with Kindle, I need to tab twice, first for menu and the second is for choose highlight adding function ! This is not so convenience, but beside that I am very happy, dictionary works fine as well as onscreen keyboard that I barely use it except for book searching in Kindle store.

For Read-To-Me feature and also the music player that are already missed from this ebook reader, I did not miss it at all ! I hardly use Text-To-Speech with my Kindle DX Graphite, and also the MP3 player, I mean it may good if this reader comes with the built-in player, but based on DXG, I’ve found that MP3 player on Kindle is not so impress and I think listening music from IPhone or IPod Touch is a better idea.

So, to conclude, if you are one who is still thinking about buy this ebook reader from Amazon, the only flaw of it is reading screen which I think if you don’t have any other Kindles to compare with, you will not noticed the difference or even if it noticeable, it does not mean Kindle 4 screen is a bad quality screen, I still give it an 85% quality. If you like you can also watch my review video so you can see Kindle 4 in a real motion ( sorry for my english).

Acer Iconia Tab W500 vs Kindle as ebook reader

As Windows 7 hybrid tablet notebook. One of a feature that you might want to use it is ebook reader. You can use Acer Iconia Tab w500 as ebook reader because you can install Amazon reader program on your Windows 7 Acer Iconia Tab w500 but how is it works ? Is it work as use a native ebook reader like Kindle DX Graphite or Kindle 3 ? should you buy Acer Iconia Tab w500 to use as ebook reader as one of its major function or just buy another Kindle 3 sponsored screen server 114 USD instead of use it as your ebook reader. From Acer Iconia Tab w500′s specifications and my IPad 1, IPad 2, Kindle 3 and Kindle DX Graphite and Amazon reader on Mac and PC experience. I believe you can use Acer Iconia Tab w500 as your ebook reader.

Click here for the full specifications and customer reviews of  Acer Iconia Tab W500 with 37% discount price @ Amazon

From its 1.3 pounds weight (as same as IPad 2 weight) You can easily hold Acer Iconia Tab w500 with one hand. You can feel the weight and it might not much comfortable as holding Kindle DX Graphite or Kindle 3. But you can do it. As same as on IPad 2. So I don’t think weight is not an issue here. But you will found the problem as the tablet ebook readers all over the world have found. Acer Iconia Tab w500′s LCD screen is not an anti-glare screen and reading from LCD for a long time can caused you  an eye strain. In my experience, you can read from a LCD tablet for some amount of time. But it’s better with e-ink screen ebook reader like Kindle and I am also found myself read a lot faster on Kindle. So if you are think about getting one of Acer Iconia Tab w500 to use as your major ebook reader. I don’t think it’s not a great choice. But if you are spending less than 1 hour reading and most of the time staying in building, Go for it. Otherwise, Get yourself a Kindle. It just 114 USD !

IPad 2 vs Kindle DX as ebook reader, which one to buy

If you have ask me several months ago, I must say if you are looking for the ebook reader go and you are an out door reader go for Kindle DX. And if you are looking for magazine reader and you are indoor reader go for IPad.

Click here to go to Kindle DX Graphite official page @ Amazon

Say Hello to the newest Kindle DX

But since Apple released their IPad 2. I think the result might not be the same as several months ago. First of all, I have to admitted that reading PDF files on Kindle DX is not comfortable. It’s very hard to use a zoom and pan function on 5 way navigator stick and also Kindle DX has a very slow processor to process your command such as zoom in or change your font size on adjustable PDF.

The Kindle Store: 900,000 eBooks, Newspapers, Magazines, and Blogs

Second of all, IPad 2 is Apple’s big improvement on IPad. I think IPad 2 screen is not as hard on my eyes as IPad 1 and also with the slimness and lighter weight, carry IPad 2 in my hands almost feels like holding Kindle DX in my hands (which it is noticeable different weight with IPad 1). So the only bad thing about IPad 2 to use it as ebook reader is it LCD screen can not be read on direct sunlight. I mean it. And if you think you’ll solve this problem by buying IPad 2 antiglare screen protector. I have to say by far. I have not yet found the screen protector that was not destroy my IPad using experience.

Built-in PDF reader with pan and zoom

So before getting one of Kindle DX Graphite you have to ask yourself if you are really need to buy e-ink reader in the year that is the rise of tablet. But as I always mentioned if you are looking for the ebook reader to use it to “read book” Kindle DX is one of the best ebook reader that I’ve ever use. You will love it.

Kindle DX Graphite or IPad 2 or 10 inch Toshiba Android Tablet “Folio”, which one is the best ebook reader ?

How to convert PDF files to Kindle formats?

How to convert PDF files to Kindle formats?……Hmmm..Good question. My friends at work asked me how to do it because he plans to buy an Amazon Kindle. He told me that I have been thinking to buy an eBook reader and window shopping for a while. After comparing Pros and Cons of all available eReader in Sydney market (He live in Sydney, Australia), I decided to go for Amazon Kindle 3 as he keeps saying to be that Kindle 3 is better than Kobo and Sony which is more expensive.

After having talking all about Kindle and I showed him its capabilities, especially for reading, I asked me a question which I had been asked myself when I got Kindle 3 in the beginning. He asked ” How can I convert PDF files to Kindle formats?  AHA!! I wasn’t sure how to answer an effective way because I haven’t done it but I know that it can read PDF although it isn’t convenient and have never used Kindle for reading PDF format.

So a better way to reader PDF files comfortably is to convert it to one of many Kindle formats. So to help my friend to answer to question as I am Kindle users. I have to find a way to do it. And here it is.

1. First of all, Kindle readable formats are .AZW, .AZW1. Text (.TXT), Unprotected Mobipocket (.MOBI, .PRC)

2. You have to set up Kindle Conversion Service;  Go to Manage Your Kindle and Sign-in for your Amazon account, Then Click on “Edit Info” to change whatever email you want your files to delivery, Then save it.

3. Send your PDF file to your@Kindle.com address by type “Convert” in the subject of email. There are 2 options for delivering document :

Paid Delivery- if you choose this option, scroll down to the section labeled “Your Kindle Approved E-mail List” and your document will delivery to your Kindle wireless via Whispernet. The cost of this delivery is 15 cents per MB in the US and 99 cent per MS for outside. Normally, a typical eBook ranges from 1/3 to 3/4 of  1 MB. I found it this way is fast and delivery to your Kindle.

Free Delivery- If you don’t want to be charged, you can avoid using wireless service “Whispernet”.  What you do is to send attachments to yourname@free.kindle.com to be converted. Example if your Kindle email address is Yoon@Kindle.com, you send your attachments to Yoon@free.kindle.com. Then you can have your converted attachment emailed to your computer and you can transfer it to your Kindle.

Having difficulties to follow, find out more details at Kindle Amazon “Transferring, Downloading and sending files to Kindle”, Click Here.
