Is Amazon’s commercial TV Advertising about Kindle e-ink pearl screen and IPad exaggerated ? Is it possible that we couldn’t read from IPad in the outdoor or in the direct sunlight at all ! I have do the glare test and here is the result. Enjoy ! (click at the photo to see the actual size)

I took these pictures from my deck in the direct sunlight and apparently it’s not possible to read from my IPad – the LCD becomes the black mirror !

Kindle DX Graphite’s e-ink pearl screen works fine in the direct sunlight condition.

While with the maximize screen brightness on IPad still I cannot read it comfortably in the direct sunlight.

So it works as advertised ! Kindle DX Graphite is much more proper ebook reader for the outdoor reader. But admit it ! I don’t think much of people do the reading in that direct sunlight (at least you have to sit under the umbrella or shading. So here is my second test !

I took these photos in my outdoor sitting area with the shading and the result is :

IPad is still very hard to read with the glare. Better than reading in the direct sunlight but I think it’s healthy to read in this condition.

IPad is awfully unreadable in the semi outdoor. While Kindle DX Graphite is absolutely fine is the semi outdoor reading.

I also took the video to show how is it look in the motion. I think it shows clearly how IPad is not fitted with the semi outdoor reading condition. Perhaps you are not that outdoor or semi-outdoor reader most of time I spend my reading inside the building, in the coffee place, my study room and my living space. Will IPad fit for these task ? To answer this question I have do another glare test.

I took these photos and video in my study room which is open for the natural light to comes into the room. I have sufficient natural light to read without the need for artificial light. I think this is the light condition that you are found in the restaurant or most of the public spaces.

And the result is Kindle DX Graphite works fine in this room. Very easy and friendly to read. While with the IPad I have to admitted that with its LCD screen, IPad has crisper texts than Kindle but there are still some glares on its screen.

With the indoor space, IPad also works fine. If you can fine the proper place to avoid the glare IPad has a crisper display than Kindle.

I’ve also took the photos of Kindle and IPad with the artificial light in the indoor to show the glare on both of ebook readers. This type of glare happens all the time and it’s very annoying even with the Kindle. It forces me to find the proper seat to read my ebook by avoid the direct omni lights!

Who said Kindle screen doesn’t have glares ? It has ! Maybe as not as much as IPad screen but it also created unpleasant reading moments.

This is my final test. For someone whose spend their time in the limited space or do the reading in their bedroom might find IPad is more suitable for your lifestyle ! why ? because with the LCD reading screen, no artificial light needed. Just you and IPad and that’s it ! This could be very useful for before bedtime reading (Amazon claims that reading from LCD screen can caused you an unpleasant sleeping moments but … who cares !)

With the Kindle DX Graphite. The lamp is needed to read your Kindle in the indoor dark room but none for IPad.

I’ve also took the video to show how useful IPad is in the low lighted condition room. but it’s in the vertical !

So to conclude, I think both of these gadget has the different strength points. For the old fashioned ereader, I think Kindle is the best in its line. and for the new tablet world IPad is still the unbeatable tablet even almost a year released now. If you are looking for one decent ebook reader. I still think Kindle is the best choice don’t go for the color LCD ebook reader. You won’t happy with the glares. If you decide to go with the tablet go with IPad !

I’ve bought IPad for a while and most of the time, I use it as my ebook reader and I am also the Kindle DX graphite owner. So today i would like to share my ebook reader tablet experience. I have spend around 3-5 hours aday infront of my lcd computer screen and around 3-4 hours on my ipad to watch video from youtube and PDF magazine on iBooks. I think it’s not healthy with your eyes. After been using it for a while. I start to see blurry picture at night. I think it is because of spending too much time on Ipad which has not been happended with me before when i read from my Kind DX Graphite.

I didn’t say Ipad tablet is not good for ebook reader. It dose a very great job on e-magazine and web feeding but before buying it. You may think about how long you spend on ebook reader. If it’s more than 2 or 3 hours per day, E-ink ebook readers like Kindle DX graphite or Nook are more easier on your eyes and for me, the native e-ink ebook reader can give me more sense of relaxatio. I think becasue of the diffrent interface design. Sometimes tablets is too crowed with the multiple layers of data. But with the Kindle. I feel no need to hurry.

If it possible, owning both of them ipad and Kindle can fullfil your different need of eboo reader. But if you have to choose between these two. Consideration about how much time you will spend per day for this device could help you to get your best ebook reader.

Kindle DX Graphite vs IPad screen, which one is the better e-reader for outdoor and indoor ?

If you have a new vacant room for entertaining or as living space, what sort of items would you put them in there? Good thing about empty room is nothing in there, nothing. So what and how would you start with?

Imagine your room with white painted, on the left hand side, a small long side table sits against the wall. On the top, it is placed with a cool and stylish BeoSound 8 by Band- Olusen, imaging a great sound and design in the empty room. BeoSound is docked for, iPod4 nano, iPhone, and a new iPad. One cool dock speaker is enough for the room and its quality sound would do a great work. ……What would it be near this dock?…I believe it needs no longer book shelf as well as physical books. The ideal item to replace them is eBook readers, Amazon Kindle, Apply iPad, Barnes & Noble Nook, Kobo, Pocket Edge and a lot more to come next year. The chosen ones are Kindle 3 from Amazon. It is daily use because we do have to read the world and experience it literally. iPad is the second chosen one. The difference between iPad and Kindle is  that iPad is in color. Planing to not having many items or gadgets in the room, what should they be more on the  right side of the room? Hmm……. a small pantry might be great. Since I plan to watch a lot of Blu-ray movies and TV American series, placing a small lavish counter on the right can served the needs. On the top of the counter, it will be placed with K-Cups Keurig Coffee Brewer and Keurig Carousal stand. Anytime I want hot or ice coffee, and juice, I can have them straight away. Adding some stacks would also be nice.

It is time to have a big of sofa in the middle of the room and a coffee table to place a cup of coffee. In my imaginary, I do not know  what coffee table going to look like but it would be nice if I could could bring some natural atmosphere  to the room which is full of gadgets. Maybe, I could have an aquarium fish task as a coffee table. Good idea!! at least I could rest my eyes and feed those gold fish.

That all could be enough for a perfect entertaining room filled in with splendid gadgets and enjoyable items.

If you are looking for the real e-reader. No interest in E-Magazine, muti-tasking and also not a heavy internet surfer. Get Kindle 3. It’s very cheap, light and reading friendly. You will love it ! But If you are looking for the multimedia tablet, For me I think IPad is the way to go, the Apps store is very easy to access and purchase with many choices of games, ebooks, movies, musics, and apps. If you are the internet addict you will love IPad ! While Samsung Galaxy tab is kind of like an old fashion tablet PC. You can use it for surfing the internet and do what IPad do but I still doubt in Samsung’s app store.

What do you think could IPad wins all ? If you ask me don’t think so. Reading from the Kindle is so much better experience (But if we can have touchscreen and switchable between color and black and white screen on the next Kindle (Kindle 4 perhaps ?). Kindle essentials: my thought about buying this popular ebook reader

Have you try iBooks on IPad ? I have try it on my IPod Touch and it’s sucks ! Maybe my Ipod touch is old (8GB  around 2 years old now) so its response is very slow ! Con not compared with Kindle on IPod Touch and Iphone 4.0. This Kindle app on IPod touch and Iphone is very good. with very quick response for page turning, built in dictionary – just tab on world and the word’s definition will appears below on the same page very great ! This make me think about my Kindle 3 3G WiFI pre-order, Do I really need it ?

Finally Kindle 3 has open for pre-order and will delivered the first lot on the end of this August. Amazon has offered WiFi only version which very cheap 139UD and WiFi + 3G 189 USD. Compared with IPad Kindle 3 is very very cheap. IPad 16 GB WiFI only @ Apple online store is 499 USD and WiFI plus 3G is 629 USD. So If you are looking for one of a good ebook reader, which one would you buy ?

it’s very disappointing that Kindle 3rd generation isn’t comes with touch screen I think the navigator button and keyboard is so out of date and not very convenience at all. I say this because I’ve use Kindle on IPod touch for a while and I think the touch screen is very useful for page turning and also I don’t like the way Kindle’s e-ink screen turns its page by fading in black and reload I think it’s not smooth. But the Kindle 3 reading screen is very friendly to your eyes and it’s very light only 0.2 kilograms and very thin this will cause no you a problem to carry it around in your bag. 6 inch screen is too small to read ? Like I’ve said I used IPod touch to read and it’s readable. 6 inch won’t be a problem with your reading.

But with IPad there are much more, especially for e-magazine – you’ll love it ! with the full color and the page turning that feels like the read book. But with the color it’s also caused you eyes strain. If you are ok with the concept of reading from the computer screen all the time with the vivid color. IPad is definitely your choice. I don’t know If you are able to hold IPad with your one hand while you are in your bed like Kindle 3 because it is so heavy if you compared with Kindle 3.
